In keeping with our theme of Enhancing Human Performance, this year’s event is being held at St George’s Park, the home of England football. Each of the three days will feature a selection of Masterclasses, with sessions on topics including Getting Human-AI Partnerships Right, Physical Ergonomics and Fatigue Risk Management. For people just starting out in their career, there’s a Doctoral Consortium, as well the chance to show off their research with a Just-a-Minute poster presentation.
And among the keynote speakers this year are astronaut instructor Susan Charlesworth, who will deliver the Institute Lecture titled Human Performance in Extreme Environments: Insights from Astronaut Training. Professor Nicola Christie will be giving the Broadbent Lecture, you can read more about her career and research in the upcoming issue of The Ergonomist. There’s also a fireside chat with Hope Powell, Women’s Technical Director at Birmingham City Football Club, and Professor Paul Salmon from the University of the Sunshine Coast.
The three-day conference runs from 28-30 April and will cover a wide range of sectors, including nuclear, construction, manufacturing, healthcare and defence. It will also explore human factors methods and tools, artificial intelligence, incident investigation and much more.
