Going global

October is Global Ergonomics Month – the annual campaign to raise awareness of the importance of our discipline. The initiative aims to help more people understand what ergonomics is and the difference it can make in improving lives. The campaign also provides a chance for organisations to explore the changes they can make to create safer working environments.

Despite the benefits of ergonomics expertise being all around us, there are still many people who haven’t heard of the discipline or don’t understand what it is. If you struggle to know where to start explaining it, we’ve created a new one-minute video animation called ‘What is Ergonomics?’. In simple and easy-to-understand terms, it highlights what ergonomists do and how they are making the world a better place. Watch it now.

You can also share our special graphic showing the breadth of our discipline to help spread the word and raise awareness of the importance of human factors. See the image.

Ergonomics Month was launched in 2003 by the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society in the US. Since then, it’s grown into a global campaign to promote the discipline through talks, workshops, articles and other events.
