Our specialist area of expertise is identifying the potential causes/sources of work-related injury such as Upper Limb Disorders/RSI, back/neck injury, hernias and other occupationally related injury resulting from 'stressful' task demands such as repetitive movements, high levels of force, awkward upper body or awkward limb postures (of the arms or legs). We can apply our knowledge within any type of environment where someone works, whether that be an industrial site, manufacturing premises, production plant, office building, care facility, within any form of transport, underground, outdoors/indoors, etc. Our job is to consider the design of any equipment, machinery or tools they use, to consider the environmental factors such as lighting/temperature, to consider the organisational factors such as the speed of operation, the frequency and duration of breaks and to examine the task and what it asks of the operator in terms of posture, forces, repetition and cognitive demand.
