Good moves for safety

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are one of the main causes of ill health in the workplace, leaving many employees with painful long-term injuries. To help protect against these problems, and launched now as part of our activities to mark Ergonomics Month, we’ve created a new infographic packed with practical advice.

MSD accounted for 28% of all cases of work-related ill health and industries with a particular high level of problems included construction and health and social work. The infographic lists the warning signs to be aware of. There’s also a link to where you can find exercises that could help prevent injuries occurring.

Figures from the Health & Safety Executive reveal 470,000 UK workers suffered work-related MSDs in 2020/21. Almost half (45%) reported upper limb or neck problems, 39% had back issues and 16% were affected in their lower limbs. The infographic provides tips on how to reduce the risk of MSDs in all these different areas.
