Designing for people
A museum exhibition that takes a deep dive into human factors is now available online to help even more people discover how the discipline makes a difference to everyday lives.
Think Human welcomed more than 10,000 visitors during its time at the Museum of Making in Derby. It was a collaborative effort by the museum, the CIEHF and Loughborough University and introduced people to how human factors has shaped our lives.
The online exhibition covers four main sections: Discovering Human Factors, Systems Thinking, Designing for People, and Human Factors and the Future. It explores how human factors is applied in a range of sectors, including healthcare, transport and sport, and provides an in-depth look at some familiar objects and designs.
One case study examines the London Underground and reveals the thinking behind how stations are designed, how people interact with the network and the ways travel is made safer for passengers.
There are also videos and an interactive quiz to show some of the possible career paths linked to human factors.
