Wellbeing for every worker

The way many people work has undergone a dramatic transformation in the past decade with the increase of hybrid working patterns and advances in mobile technology. But while more flexible working has plenty of advantages for both employers and employees, health and wellbeing risks still remain.

A new guide from the CIEHF provides ergonomic guidelines for creating inclusive, safe and effective technology-enabled workplaces, whether people are in offices, at home or working remotely.

Designing Better Mobile Working Environments includes advice for decision-makers who are deploying hybrid working, as well checklists to create flexible and inclusive workplaces.

The guide was developed by Jim Taylour, Nichola Adams, Katharine Metters and Laurence Jones and is available to download free of charge on our website. It says: “The guidelines can be used to enhance the wellbeing of the whole organisation as well as the individual, regardless of the location. Getting it right first time saves time and money.

“The purpose of this document is to encourage a more joined-up approach to ensure holistic, long-lasting productivity and wellbeing. There are recommended actions for ergonomic risk management, equipment provision, education and ongoing monitoring to meet legal duties. By sharing common goals across the disciplines at all levels, a human factors approach can yield measurable positive impacts.”
