The shape of things to come?
An electric car that can change shape to help tackle congestion and parking problems and aims to make urban transport more accessible has won a green design award.
The City Transporter CT-1 can alter its size to switch between compact and full-size modes. When the chassis is expanded it provides a more stable ride, but it can also contract to navigate tight urban spaces. It was also designed to provide a sustainable solution to urban transport and includes natural materials and has zero emissions.
The car was honoured at this year’s Green Product Awards, which celebrate sustainable innovation from around the world.
The jury said: “Vehicles do not belong in the city centre! This concept can help to declutter cities to create more space for greenery and for citizens, which leads to a better quality of life and to more resilience.”
