Learning lessons from India

The global human factors community is an international network of professionals who can learn from each other to make life better in countries around the world. The Indian Society of Ergonomics has been promoting the discipline, sharing knowledge and leading research and training for almost 40 years.

We’ve teamed up with the Society for a webinar examining the issues facing India’s informal economy in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Around 94% of women are employed in the sector and many are now facing financial difficulties after losing their jobs. The pandemic also had a significant impact on the income of informal workers in rural areas, particularly those working in agriculture.

The session will be presented by Dr Anindya Ganguli, President of the Indian Society of Ergonomics, with Dr Somnath Gangopadhyay, Professor at the University of Calcutta, and Dr Krishna Nirmalya Sen, Head of Environment, Health and Safety at infrastructure company L&T India.
