The CIEHF has launched a new campaign to help people working with oxygen at the bedside of hospital patients. Leaks of the gas can cause fires and even explosions, meaning it’s critical to ensure it’s handled correctly – particularly when staff are working under great pressure and stress.

With the Omicron variant of Covid-19 sweeping the world, hospitals are braced for a surge in infected patients who need oxygen as part of their treatment. We have worked with clinicians, fire safety specialists and experts from across a range of professional bodies and organisations to create a bedside poster highlighting essential safety steps.

It details some of the crucial checks which are needed when dealing with oxygen in hospital, as well as highlighting potential risks. The printable poster can be downloaded here for free and displayed at bedsides and notice boards.

The campaign is the latest stage of our wide-ranging response to the Covid-19 pandemic which includes infographics and guidance documents available in a range of languages. For more information and to access a range of other resources linked to the pandemic, visit our Covid-19 website.
