Human factors and cyber security

Find out how cybercrime threatens business, critical national infrastructure and national security and how human factors can help in the fight against it.

Cybercrime threatens business, critical national infrastructure and national security. Recent attacks in the retail sector demonstrate an ongoing vulnerability, and “human error” is still getting the blame for most incidents. This is where the discipline of human factors can help.

Amanda Widdowson provides a short presentation followed by discussion questions to stimulate debate and knowledge sharing. Knowledge gaps that were identified can inform future research.

Amanda Widdowson is a Chartered Fellow and former President of the CIEHF. She leads the Human factors and UX competence centre at Thales and recently published a book: Humans and Cyber Security: How organisations can enhance resilience through human factors, ISBN 9781032547848.

This talk took place at a Defence Sector Group meet-up.
