Join the Serious Hazards of Transfusion (SHOT) team for an engaging presentation exploring how human factors have been promoted and embedded in transfusion practice over the years to enhance both clinical and laboratory safety. This session will take you through their journey, highlighting key challenges, insights gained from SHOT reports, and how learning from safety events has shaped their approach.
They will share practical examples of applying human factors not only in incident investigation, but proactively in system design, service improvement, and planning change, including IT implementation. Attendees will also be signposted to a range of open‑access human factors resources available via the SHOT website and app. Learn how SHOT is promoting a holistic, just, and learning safety culture, valuing everyday learning and excellence, and working in partnership with patients to improve transfusion safety for all.
