About this CPD self-study module
In this introductory module, you'll explore a human factors tool called Systems Engineering Initiative for Patient Safety (SEIPS). You'll learn about the SEIPS framework and how its principles can be applied to healthcare delivery and management practices to optimise patient safety, quality of care, and overall system efficiency.
You learn how the SEIPS model focuses on a number of elements in the work system and how they interact both individually and in combination:
- People
- Tasks
- Tools and equipment
- Physical environment
- Organisational conditions
You'll see how to use the tool in real world examples and you can download templates to help you get started in your own workplace.
The module includes 2 videos and a selection of suggested further reading. In total, it might take up to 3 hours to complete.
There's a short test at the end and if you pass, you'll get a badge of recognition showing that you've successfully completed the module.
