Human Factors Consultant

Get involved in project work across a number of important sectors including nuclear, defence, medical and rail!

Calling all HF superstars

User Centric Design is recruiting.

We specialise in employing exceptional Human Factors practitioners and delivering world class work to our range of clients.

By practicing a user-centred approach to our work, we create high-quality and robust Human Factors designs tailored to the end-user.

If you aspire to be part of a new, exciting business and want to reach out to new opportunities as we grow our portfolio of clients and business domains, we’d love to hear from you.

The Job

We are looking to employ a Human Factors Consultant (full time or part time) to join our growing team of Human Factors specialists.

Our consultants provide Human Factors services to our clients. This consists of conducting Human Factors studies, inputting to design projects, and providing the Human Factors evidence needed to support safety cases.

What makes us unique

We’re a nimble organisation, not a large bureaucracy. There’s no need to feel like a small cog in a big machine. If you have a better way of doing things, we want to know all about it.

We listen. With us, you are a highly valued member of the team with skills, opinions and capabilities we can all learn from.

We support you. As a consultant you may know a lot already, but there’s always more to learn. We want you to grow and develop and will aid you through training, and if you need to know something fast, we provide knowledgeable back-office support when you are out and about delivering for our clients.

Flexible location. We go where our clients need us but largely operate a work from home policy. But you won’t feel isolated because we encourage regular team meets on-line and regularly meet up in person.

What we're looking for

All levels of experience, but ideally between 4 and 10 years as an HF specialist working in one or more of the nuclear, defence, air-traffic management, medical, cyber security and rail domains.

You will have an Ergonomics / HF (or related) degree or postgraduate degree.

You need to be a self-starter, show initiative, and have demonstrable ability to deliver quality work to deadlines within budget.

You will be an instinctive advocate and practitioner for user centred design, able to argue your case positively to clients, customers and other specialists.

You will be a team-player, communicate well at all levels, keeping people informed and able to listen and react pragmatically to different views.

You will be able to plan your work within the context of engineering and safety-critical design projects.

What we’re offering

Competitive salary £30,000 – £60,000 for full-time (dependent on experience) plus annual bonus; company pension; 25 days paid leave including 1 for your birthday plus bank holidays.

We’re an equal opportunities employer and we thrive on our employees’ diversity of experience and thought. That means we welcome applications from all suitably qualified people.
